FAQ · Meal Shakes
Is maltodextrin bad for you?
It is not sinister — it is a cheap, fast-digesting starch used as a filler, thickener, and carrier in many shakes and powders. The reason to notice it is value, not danger: when maltodextrin sits high on the ingredient list of a product priced as premium, you are paying a premium price for inexpensive carbohydrate. A little as a carrier is normal; a lot as the second ingredient in a "clean" formula is a value question. We flag it in that context and read the panel rather than treating any single ingredient as a villain.
