Thermic Effect of Food
The thermic effect of food is the energy the body expends digesting and processing what you eat, and protein has a notably higher thermic effect than carbohydrate or fat — a real, measured metabolic difference. It is often stretched in marketing into a fat-loss selling point; we keep it where the evidence does, as one small factual reason protein is calorically "expensive" to process. It is context, not a mechanism any product can promise you an outcome from, and we present it that way.
